NEW PROJECT - HELP NEEDED!

We are looking for new volunteers to help with our Sacramento County rescue list.
Would you like to volunteer and help animals at the Sacramento County Animal Shelter in the comfort of your own home? We are looking for volunteers to help forward the rescue list animals from the Sacramento county shelter to rescue groups.

The Shelter director emails a nightly list at about 5pm. Typically, the shelter director puts anywhere from 1-6 animals on the list on a Sunday or Monday night with a picture, shelter notes and a date they need rescue by. Sometimes he may add 1 or 2 animals on the list midweek. Generally there are no animals added on the list on Fridays or Saturdays as those are the director's days off.

What do the volunteers do with this list?
  1. Volunteers cut and past some standard verbage from the list and then we forward to the shelter's pre-established list of rescue groups.
  2. Then we email specific breed rescue groups and some all breed rescues. We have a list of groups already compiled. But sometimes we get a breed that we don't have email addresses listed for. Then we google that breed in the computer and email those breed specific rescues that we find.
  3. We also have a volunteer that goes and takes pics and videos of the rescue list dogs and sends them to us. We then cut and past those pics and videos to the rescue list and then resend the list as needed.
  4. Throughout the week we update the lists and resend them out.

Volunteer Your Time:

  • Be a 'Kitty Cuddler'

Come help us keep our adoptable cats & kittens socialized and happy with some playtime at our pet adoption center in Elk Grove.

  • Help with Transport

We are always in need of volunteers to help transport animals to and from vet appointments and special events. Our fosters get very busy (especially during kitten season). We could always use a few extra hands to run errands.

  • Become an Adoption Counselor

We will guide you and help you learn to assist the public during events so you can help our adoptable kitties find those perfect homes!

Help with a Fundraiser

  • Fundraise at school

Start a food drive, ask for litter donations, bedding, toys, etc.

  • Start a recycling program

Recycle cans and bottles from your school to help bring in funds for LAPCATS.

  • Coordinate a car wash

Get your friends together and get a car wash going to help raise funds for our area's homeless cats & kittens.

  • A lemonade stand is always fun!

For the little ones out there who want to help, they can put together a neighborhood lemonade stand and raise some funds to help LAPCATS!

  • Printer Cartridge Recycling

Collect empty ink jet printer cartridges and bring them to LAPCATS' adoption center in Elk Grove. These small cartridges are recycled and refilled.

Other Ways to Volunteer...

  • Help Distribute Literature

to bring awareness to your community about pet overpopulation and the services that LAPCATS Cat Adoption Agency has to offer.

  • Ask for Community Donations

Take LAPCAT's Wish List of items and post them on the side of paper grocery bags and leave them on the doorstep of neighborhood homes. Pick the bags and items up the following week. Bring items to the LAPCATS adoption center in Elk Grove.
