What a day! Thank God for Erica and Lynda. None of us ever sat down and we all forgot we had to go to the bathroom for six hours! Just to recap the day quickly.....The first appointment of the day was Kristen for Buttercup. She went home on trial. Next was Hannah who came to visit Arthur one of my fosters. She went home to sleep on it because she gives herself a 24 hour rule. She's a second year vet student at UC Davis. Sam was adopted by Mary and her daughter. I am hoping he behaves himself and fits in with there four other cats. Next up, Ben and Jerry (who have been in foster) were adopted by Jennifer. Lots of other visitors and productive things happened today. As you can see, the cats were out the entire seven hours. My foster Samuel had a haircut by Val and Shannon. Shannon is interested in possibly adopting him after being in foster for three years! You guys will see him at the potluck this weekend he looks so cute. Thanks again for all the help Lynda, Leslie, Erica, Mary Ellen! Barbara Today was a successful and productive day at the center. First order of business was finalizing Apollo's adoption. He has been renamed Mushroom and he is adored by his new adoptive parents.
Previous adopter Laura came in with Auggie and Lily (pictured here) a bonded pair we adopted 3 1/2 years ago. They came in for a nail trimming. This is a heart warmer because she originally applied to adopt Lily and because they were a bonded pair, we would not separate them-you can see why. She said they are completely 100% bonded and if they had been separated it would have been horrible. She can't imagine life without them. Meg came in for a visit as did Madison from Petsmart who shared pictures of all of her animals. She too adopted a cat from us probably six or seven years ago named Phishy. Apollo went home with a young lady and her boyfriend this evening and I have a warm and fuzzy feeling about his chances for having a new home. He will have a little sister cat and Sadie and Josh are very familiar with the time involved in not only acclimating him to a new home but also to a new sister. He went into their carrier without a peep and seemed comfortable. They spent some quality time with him petting, brushing, and generally schmoozing with him before leaving. I gave him love and kisses and best wishes from all of us I know he has held a special place in our hearts as one of our longest Lapcats citizens. Volunteer Pam Here's the update already:
He's an absolute DOLL! He's very comfortable already exploring the house, purring, and soaking up some attention from me and my boyfriend. I can't believe how calm he is. He doesn't seemed to be bothered by Tundra's smells at all (our little female kitten). Tundra did hiss when she first smelled his empty carrier after settling him into his bedroom. But he's already changed her tune and is very interested in his smells coming from under his door in a much more affiliative manner. We will keep you updated on our slow intro process and they'll be separated until everyone is comfortable enough to meet, but this boy is a total heartthrob! |
