Rosie is doing fantastic. Our relationship has evolved considerably over time. Every day she seems to become more affectionate and trusting with me, even when I think she couldn't get any closer, she surprises me again. She really behaves more like a dog than a cat. When I come home from work she dive-tackles my legs with a loud "Brrddllreeow!!!" She does a new "stop drop and roll" trick when we play now, literally rolling like a log sideways across the floor in an attempt to dazzle me, which works every time. I got her a giraffe-print bed and a 6'4" cat-tree for Christmas. She scares me to death when she plays on the top level of the tree, swinging around like a monkey. I swear she'll fall off because of her missing leg, but she never does. She sits on the top level and swatts at my head while I play guitar, or she lays on my foot while I stand there playing. I've discovered that she loves music on the stereo, particularly Billie Holiday. She loves it when I sing to her. She loves it when I whistle, she comes running and rubs her head against me and purrs. She hates it when I eat potato chips, that sets her off running through the house, pausing to give me looks of hatred and then rocketing off again until I stop eating chips. She kills all the mosquitoes daily so I don't get bit. Sometimes I swear she sees a ghost and her hair stands up like a Halloween cat, so I walk her into the hall and show her its ok.
We let the boys out on the ranch today and prayed they would stay. Liam roamed out first and checked the barn and the garage etc. Then Lance decided to follow him so they got to stretch their legs and the matriarch (Amber) came up to them, rubbed noses and then she walked away. When we came home both boys were in the hay barn with the other 3 cats waiting for their supper. We put them in their big crate with the bed and litter box in the garage for the night. Don't want them roaming when it is dark.
I think they will be fine, Liam already follows us where we go.
