Who We Are

LapCats is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue organization committed to saving at-risk cats and kittens through a compassionate, foster-based program. While we began by rescuing cats from local shelters, growing community need has shifted our focus. We now work directly with the public to help the overwhelming number of stray and abandoned cats reproducing on the streets at alarming rates.

Our mission is to reduce the number of homeless cats and promote responsible pet ownership through rescue, education, spay/neuter, and community outreach. We focus on finding the right match for every cat and adopter, recognizing that adoption is a lifetime commitment.

To date, LapCats has helped save over 7,130 cats and kittens. Our approach is deeply personal — every cat is more than a number to us. We take the time to learn their personalities, match them with the right families, and support adopters well beyond adoption day.

How We Do It

Fundraising, website, social media, volunteers, and community outreach allows us to provide extended care and time to cats who are abandoned, found outdoors, or surrendered due to hardship. Matching pets with people through a thorough screening process and our lifetime guarantee for the cats and their humans, is a promise we make to our adopters and our cats.
