I took a leap of faith and quit my job to start writing full time in the book that I had been having so much trouble with. Its been quite an experience. I've had to give up every bit of extras which I used to have in my life and live as simple as possible because I'm not getting paid until I publish the book. So its been an eye opener in many ways. One of the best things that came from me writing full time is Rosie and I being together all day every day! One might think we would get cabin-fever and start to fight, but the opposite has happened; we're closer friends than we ever were before, if you can believe that was even possible. I need to take breaks from writing throughout the day, and Rosie gives me reason to do so. She has learned to communicate her feelings so well, its amazing how she talks to me with her own little language.
Her favorite thing at the moment is blanket-forts in the living room. She has me build several separate blanket-forts out of the chairs around the room. She then acts like she's a little pinball flying around the room, ducking under the blankets into each separate fort one at a time. She leaves her tail sticking out and wiggles it around with excitement waiting for me to grab her through the blankets. She likes the tension to build up while she wonders where I am outside the fort. Then I grab her through the blankets and she makes a loud noise that doesn't sound like any animal I've ever heard before, and she runs out from under the fort and into the next one across the room, where she waits in the dark with her tail wiggling outside, waiting again for me to grab her.
I've modeled one of the animal-characters in my book after Rosie, using her behavior and personality to construct this really cool relationship between the protagonist and his little sidekick. It actually makes me get tears while I'm writing because I can see in the writing just how much Rosie and I love each other. I'll be sure to let you know when I finish writing and send you a copy. I'm not promising that you'll like it! But you'll probably enjoy the scenes that mirror Rosie and I together. Its gonna be a while before its done though!
I'll attach some pics below. Thank you again for bringing Rosie and I together. It would sound strange to think she and I could keep becoming better friends, but its really happening, day after day, into years. There's real magic happening here with me and my little friend. Its living medicine, and it works, for both she and I.
