The boys are doing great!. They have us pretty much wrapped around there little paws. Chip likes to drink from the faucet at the kitchen sink. Dale looks at him like he's a little weird. What are brother's for. :-) Chip now let's us hold him more and more. He just loves it when Erik holds him and will look up at him with a look of pure bliss. Dale still loves to hug and I carry him around the house. One of the photos I attached is of me trying to work. I've got Dale on my shoulder and Chip jumped into my lap. Clearly I wasn't supposed to work right then. :-) The other is of Erik and Chip.
Erik's mom has moved in temporarily with us and Chip and Dale haven't had any issues. They are so mellow and loving boys. And now they have someone else around to love on them. I've had cats before and there were rules. No cats on the counters, no cats on the tables, no kitties on the bedroom pillows. Yeah, that doesn't happen with these guys. We know we spoil them by letting pretty much run the house, but they are just so damn adorable! They give us so much love and joy and happiness. We can't wait to see what happens when we put up the Christmas tree! Hollis Laurel is really calming down and fitting in real well. She is a character has become such a wonderful part of our family. "We just love her" THANK YOU FOR HER!
-Heather There is nothing quite as comforting as a fuzzy, warm cat in your lap when you're feeling down; well, honestly even when you're feeling great there's just something special about the way they purr, make biscuits on your lap (or stomach), and give you gentle head-bumps. Our pets always seem to know when something heavy weighs on our human hearts. When we're sad, hurting, or discouraged, they are eager to be there for us, to make the going just a little easier.
In January 2015, I was diagnosed with an incurable (but most times controllable) blood cancer called Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia. One month later, due to illness, we had to put down our loveable tabby who had been with us for 16 very special years. My husband and I were both devastated, and I felt the loss more keenly because she seemed to know exactly what I needed those days I would return home after receiving an infusion. She would jump into my lap and give me fuzzy fur love and encouragement. What was I going to do without her?! When we visited our daughter in neighboring Folsom we got our "cat" fix from her cat Libby, an adorable 4-year old tuxedo cat. Libby was adopted from Lapcats over a year ago and our daughter and granddaughter were eager to bring up the Lapcats website and introduce us to all the adorable-adoptable cats available. In the months that followed we toiled over whether to get a new cat/kitten to fill the void in our lives. We're happy to tell you that just one month ago we adopted our 6-year old tuxedo cat, Watson, from Lapcats! We had picked out (online) another older cat we felt would be a purr-fect match. Well, Watson saw it differently. He PICKED us! While visiting the foster home cattery, my husband sat down on a lawn chair happy to let me do the selecting. This was not to be! While I was busy concentrating on a different cat, Watson made himself at home quickly and easily on my husband's lap, giving head-bumps, making biscuits, even drooling with adoration and love! Watson came home with us that afternoon and now 30 days later he has not only taken over our home but also our hearts. In short order Watson has filled a very special place in our lives; the place only a fuzzy, warm (and precocious) cat can fill. Watson is a special cat, he has no teeth which makes him even more of a perfect fit in our family. He had problems with his immune system just as I now have problems with mine. It hasn't slowed him down or broken his spirit or energy and this bolsters mine. I know Watson will be there for me on those future days I just want to curl up under a warm quilt, giving me head-bumps, making biscuits in my lap and purring me on! Can't get much better than that! ~kris
