We actually intended to introduce the animals more slowly to the kitten. We had her in the bedroom with the door closed and then let Sebastian in a while later.
We watched them sniff each other and then saw that all Seb wanted to do was play with the kitten. The kitten was a little apprehensive at first but then opened up to Sebbie. At one point the kitten got out the bedroom door (she's fast!) and our dog was immediately interested in her. The kitten was a little put out at first by the dog. But by the end of the night they were fine together. This morning we woke up to the kitten and Sebastian chasing each other back and forth through the house. It's so fun to see them playing together. The introductions went so much better than we could ever hope.

I just wanted to give you a quick update on Martin (now Che). He is such a good boy! We love him so much. Even Lily our old cat likes him. He continues to keep Toki (formerly Token) busy by playing with him.
Toki started out playing pretty rough and we needed to break in from time to time, but now Toki has been learning to play nicer and then play longer. They are so funny together. They like to take turns hiding behind the curtains and jumping out at each other. Che (formerly Martin) sleeps in bed with us every night and is such a good sleeper. He comes to bed, gets a few pettings before going right to sleep. Then he sleeps the whole night. He has been a little extra sleepy these past few days and I think he is starting to teethe. Check out the last pic. I think you can see the second set of teeth coming in. Thank you for everything! Christine Henry and Eddie now named Rocco and Bama.
Rocco and Bama are adjusting nicely. Rocco had a cough and vomiting which got worse over a week, and I got a little worried about his weird, loud purr that he was making. I took him to the vet and she gave him antibiotics which resolved the issue within three days. He is now wrestling with Bama on my office rug as I write this. I am not so sure about the back yard (cat fencing or Catio). They have given up trying to get out at this point. I will keep them indoors, and have added extra latches to all my screen doors. I will let you know if I decide to try to cat-proof the yard again. I do have many great ideas for the project but there are some problem areas… Rocco is definitely the dominant one, and also definitely the one who demands more of my attention (which I like). They won’t come into our laps for more than a brief visit, but we are still trying to seduce them. They sleep on my bed, and sometimes Rocco will sleep against me which is sweet. You were right about the feather toys. They last about three days (even the heavy duty ones) before I have to start repairing them. Hi Barbara…..This is Rocco! (AKA Rico) This lady you sent me home with calls me Rico now. She said she knows some DOG named Rocco (imagine giving a DOG a great cat name like Rocco!!!). When she said Rico Suave is the name for a macho, good looking, totally cool lady’s man, which can also be a real bad guy to mess with,… I couldn’t really argue with her…..You know that describes ME completely! I think you picked a good human for me to live with. She seems pretty trainable. On the way to her house in the car, I taught her to scratch my head every time I meowed (real pathetic sounding, HEH HEH) she caught right on. When we got to her house, guess what? I have my very own room! I don’t even have to share my food with anybody! And I have my own litter box! This lady gets really happy and tells me how great I am though, when I use my litter box. (I hope she doesn’t expect me to praise her for using her toilet)……I mean…where else would I go the bathroom?!? So far I’ve trained her how to scratch all the parts on my body by moving them under her hand. Hopefully she learns the order soon…head, back, head, neck, stomach, head… so I don’t have to move. She gave me a “shower” last night! Have you had one of those? When I saw it involved water, I meowed a lot cuz I heard cats aren’t supposed to like water, but when that warm misty stuff sprayed out of that little hose all over my body and she started massaging me all over, I couldn’t help but lean into it. I even forgot to meow. She tried to stop too soon though so I swatted at her so she would do it some more….and she did…see? trainable!!! She let me lay on her bed after my shower while I dried off. Her bed is a lot bigger than mine….I think we need to trade….I’ll have to work on that one….She kept trying to take my picture later, so I made a scrunchy face, thinking she would stop…..she just thought it was cute….some humans are so goofy! I mean…look at this pic!.....Cute?!? Really?!? Oh well…she IS trainable….and she seems soooo happy just hanging out with me… (but who wouldn’t be?) I’ll keep you updated to let you know how her training is coming along. Tell all other cats I said Hi!
We adopted Legolas from Sacramento Animal Care. Almost 6mo old perfect fit buddy & brother for Thor. They immediately connected, we will keep you posted on how he is doing!
Deanna Wow, they are little bundles of pure energy! I'd forgotten what it's like having kittens in the house. They've got full run of the house while we're home and they are making use of it. Last night they mastered the stairs, no longer sticking their heads through the balusters threatening to jump, now they are chasing each other up and down over and over again. I was able to get the pictures from my old account, thank you. This is the best we've gotten so far, they're not exactly ready to pose for portraits!
Best, Kristi These are just a few updated pictures from Swifty's adopter. His new name is Duncan. If you recall, he was being given up on craigslist by a family who took him from the mother who died. Promised her they would be taken care of if she passed away. The son was heartbroken that he Breaking a promise to his mother and was being forced to give up his beloved mother's cats but he did it anyway (I think it was because of the wife). Unfortunately, they had already given her other cats away and Swifty was lucky enough to come to us. I fostered him for a few months and of course fell in love. He is the only cat in the home and gets all of the attention of his adoptive father!
We love him so much and he has just adapted so quickly and easily, perfect little addition to out family!
Here is a little collage for you! And so far he's sleeping through the night cuddled up to us or Logan purring his little heart out 😻😻😻😻 Deanna and Scot It's going great. The kittens have settled in well and the kids have been playing with them every moment they are awake. They even slept together in the kitten room.
So happy we found these 3! Bridget I got a text message yesterday from Karyn who adopted Emerald over a year ago with a picture of her looking out the screen at the window. It made me feel melancholy when she said "Sometimes I think Emme is thinking of her first mom.." (which was me for over 3 years while she waited for the perfect home.)
We honored her with a before and after picture at one of our Paint and Sip events. The after picture is actually on top of the before picture here. I miss Emerald but I am so thankful and happy she is in her forever home and I am happy I was able to foster her all those years and keep her safe until her perfect home was found. 🐾❤️ Barbara Amelia is doing wonderfully, she has become such a lover. Her kisses are licks on your nose and lots of gentle hugs with purring. She keeps her claws to a paw most the time and runs around playing with everyone even the two small dogs. We call her Monkey now, she has even picked her own bed the top bunk.
Things are going great. We kept Matin isolated for a few days but he was just crying of loneliness in the guest room and Toki was trying to get in, so we let him out. Toki hissed at him for a few minutes but then he and Toki played and played and played until he wore Toki out.
Toki is generally more calm and far less aggressive, with less biting now that he has Martin. Today they played some more and now Martin is just walking around like he has lived here all his life. He fits right in. Even Lily is doing well with him. Martin has approached Lily who hisses at him for a minute, but he is no nonassertive that she stops and lets him sit with her. He is really such a love and just loves to sit on a lap and have kisses. He is so cute and we love him so much! Christine She is a pro. Greets, attends and wraps up a tasting. She is very careful with the wine glasses ...these are $60 each!
She knew i had a challenging day yesterday. She slept next to my head all night long. Some nights she is downstairs. She and Blackie have great fun. Her eyes persist and she is getting the best of care. She had a full nail trim and a baby tooth pulled. I have no idea how she became mine....thank you. Merrill
